Stop Me From Drooling

The new 15-inch Macbook Pro has been called "the best laptop money can buy."
By Tom Yager | InfoWorld

The 15-inch MacBook Pro is the best of the tier-one commercial notebooks, full stop. My two complaints -- that the SD card sticks out of its slot and the USB ports remain too close together -- are overshadowed by the new display, seven-hour battery, faster CPU, and the fact that there is an SD card slot. There are cheaper notebooks, but I'd challenge you to find one that's faster, quieter, and better built than MacBook Pro.

PLDT DSL: One Week After

After over a month of waiting––yes, a whole month of waiting––PLDT finally installed the phone/modem setup that would reconnect my home to the internet.

The package says I'm supposed to get 512 kbps speeds, and so far my connection's either been as good as advertised or better. (I never thought I would ever say that.)

PLDT gets minus points for the excruciating wait––and their horrendous phone support services. But if the connection speeds keep up, I may forget about their sucky start.

Define Irony

The 15-inch MacBook Pro is PC Mag's––yes, PC Mag––Editor's Choice.

“Being perfect out of the box is a tall order,” points out Nicole Price Fasig (pcmag.com), but the new 15-inch MacBook Pro met her high expectations. In fact, she found it “a stellar system from the start.” Naming it “our new Editors’ Choice,” she gave it a 4.5 star rating (out of five).

End of an Era

Polaroid has announced that it will no longer be producing the iconic instant cameras that they're known for.

Like every other big name in photography, they're going to focus on making digital cameras. It some books, that would be called the inevitable result of the March of Progress. To me, it's just simply An End of an Era.
